At Health Champions we love food and believe everyone should be able to eat a nutritious diet to achieve better health. We aren’t chefs, but we cook for our family, friends, neighbours and colleagues and know how food and health are completely entwined together.
Karen Dennison, Director – the practical one!
Karen managed wellbeing projects in the NHS for over 10 years. She has studied nutrition, health promotion and education at postgraduate level. Karen also currently holds the post of training manager within the Integrated Prevention and Earliest Help Service for West Sussex County Council. Prior to this she was course leader for the Access to Health and Health Sciences course at Northbrook College, being awarded the students teaching award for two years running, demonstrating her commitment to teaching and learning. Heather is one of our Cookery Leaders, and is fantastically well organised and able to work with people of all different ages. She started cooking for a retirement home then changed directions into childcare, mainly working in pre-schools and in private childcare as a nanny. Heather has been working as a Cookery Leader since 2015 and loves every minute of it. She said "I love being a cookery leader. You get to touch the lives of so many people from all walks of life. To encourage positive changes in their approach to health, diet and nutrition is a privilege and in turn this has a knock on effect on entire families." Heather is relaxed, out-going and easy to get along with which ensure that the courses she leads are relaxed and friendly.
